Solvent-based rubber adhesives
MagPro® is a highly active magnesium oxide produced in the form of powder by carefully controlled indirect calcination of milled brucite mineral (magnesium hydroxide). MagPro® is used in the production of solvent-based rubber adhesives as an effective acid acceptor, scorch controller and chelating agent enhancing the strength of the adhesive joint.
Complex compounds or chelates, which are products of co-condensation of magnesium oxide and alkylphenol-formaldehyde resins, are used as adhesion promoters in adhesives based on halogen-containing rubbers.
Magnesium chelates provide the adhesive joint with the highest bonding strength at normal and elevated temperatures.
Due to the high surface area, MagPro® magnesium oxide improves the quality of the adhesive allowing the most complete reaction of the chelate complex formation.
MagPro® is applicable in the production process of elastomeric adhesives based on the following rubbers:
- Polychloroprene (CR)
- Chlorinated rubber (Pergut type)
- Nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR)
- Chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSM)
- Natural rubber (NR)
Grades MagPro® 150, MagPro® 170 and MagPro® 150 XP can be used for adhesive application depending on the formulation and technical requirements.
