Experimentally proven - AgroMag® granular improves the biological yield of sugar beet

In the autumn of 2022 in large beet farms – agrofirm «Agrosugar-2», JSC «Rassvet», LLC «Kubanagroteh» – of the three districts of the Krasnodar area production experiments with the fertilizer AgroMag® granular have been laid down. Conducting such joint research allows demonstrating the efficiency of the fertilizer, as well as building further cooperation with agronomists and farm directors. 

Different crops use AgroMag® granular, which is a high-magnesium fertilizer (61,4% MgO). The fertilizer is produced by grinding, classifying and granulation of brucite mineral, natural magnesium hydroxide. It is environmentally safe in recommended doses and suitable for organic production. 

The objectives of the research work to determine biological yield in the field experiments are:

  • identification of differences in magnesium fertilizer effects on yields of sugar beet crops grown in various acidic soils (pHkcl from 5.5 to 7 units in different areas);

  • making a comparison of the size of roots at control and experimental sites. 


According to common methods, samples of sugar beet roots were selected at typical areas of test fields. The average weight of one beet-root was calculated, and the level of biological yield of the studied crop from a hectare was determined (Table 1).

*The biological yield growth is 15-30% higher than gross yield as a rule.


The results have shown that the use of the AgroMag® granular fertilizer in plant nutrition systems contributes to root crops consolidation. There was an increase in the biological yield in different farms of 11,5 - 25,4 tons or 15.5 - 37,6 percent, respectively.
