On June 24, 2025, in Moscow, the first meeting of the new “Polymer Materials” section of the Electrocable Association was held. The section was created to develop unified approaches between polymer material producers and cable manufacturers. It became part of the “Anti-Counterfeit” committee and will now operate on a regular basis.
The main goal of the initiative is to increase trust in the compound market, eliminate counterfeiting, adopt modern testing methods, and establish transparent rules of interaction within the industry. The meeting brought together major players from the polymer and cable sectors, as well as representatives from specialized institutes and the expert community.
Brucite+ technical specialist Vasily Mikhailovich Karpov delivered a report titled “Statistics of Aluminum and Magnesium Hydroxide Consumption by the Cable Industry as an Indicator of Low-Flammability Plasticate Quality.” He presented analysis showing that the reduction in supplies of flame retardants (aluminum and magnesium hydroxides) needed for the production of fire-safe cables significantly exceeds actual market trends. This may indicate a decline in the quality of certain polymer compounds — it was suggested that some formulations contain minimal or no flame retardant at all.
Although the new “Polymer Materials” section is still in its formative stage, the meeting demonstrated that the industry is ready for open dialogue, collaborative action, and a transition to modern quality standards. For Brucite+, participating in this conference was an important step in the development of both the company and the industry as a whole: we not only share analytics and expert insights but also contribute to building a transparent and sustainable polymer materials market.
